Pixels—The Art of the iPhone Coming To An Apple Store Near You
Apple has asked Pixels to produce a number of events to introduce the emergent art form of iPhoneography and to showcase the amazing artists who post on Pixels to the public at their larger stores around the country and the world.
There is discussion to produce these events every few months, so excited were the Apple folks when they became aware of the work being done by Pixels’ artists. This sudden awareness was the result of the presentation we made in August to the monthly meeting of the Artistic Photographers of America, held at the San Francisco Apple store.
The kick-off event will be at the San Francisco Apple store on September 23, 2010, at 6 p.m. Several artists will be present. A number of works from prior exhibits will be featured, along with videos, slide-shows, and perhaps an interview or two projected on the big screen in the theater. If you are in the area, please join us!
We will be doing another event in the New York City Soho Apple store on the weekend of October 29, in conjunction with the huge PhotoPlus International Photography Expo and Conference that is happening that weekend. As soon as the exact date is determined, we will post it, but it looks like October 29th or 30th for sure.
Update: NYC Soho event confirmed for Oct. 29, 6 p.m. Jon Betts and Knox Bronson and possibly one more artist will be presenting.
Chicago event confirmed for Oct. 21, 6 p.m., Marty Yawnick, Daniel Berman, Jaime Ferreyros, and possibly Ramona Gillentine, will be the featured artists.
Santa Monica, November 11, 7 p.m., Third Street Promenade.
When dates are finalized we will announce them, along with which artists are traveling to shows.
This would not be happening if it were not for the amazing caliber of the work sent in by artists from around the world every single day. We thank you and are humbled by your talent and generosity.

I love this site, such great quality pieces.
I would love to see a show in my home city of Montreal, Canada. If I can help in any way, please let me know and I'll do whatever leg work is needed.
I can't decide how to feel about the fact the one of my pics is prominently displayed on the pixelex app page, or that two are in the youtube video about said app.
I'm glad they are there, just a tiny bit salty that they weren't included in the exhibition I submitted them to.
I understand that it was a subjective voting type process.
Oh well.
At least a tiny fraction of the world might happen upon them in a passing glance.
What more can we ask for?
Michael – I have written to you, but I also want to reply publicly. Many pictures that I liked a lot did not make it into the Giorgi show. The same happened with the OakBook show, and subsequent events. I think your cable shot is a lovely picture. I wish it had been included, but I had to go with the jury votes, otherwise, why have a jury? As far as the app page, that just means the developer must have really liked your pictures. I will gladly have them changed if you wish. -Knox
As I said, "just a tiny bit salty".
I'm happier to have my images on the app page, than not.
The fractions I mentioned amount to more than nothing.
I appreciate that.
I imagine the volume must have been overwhelming for the giorgi show.
I don't take it personally.
The volume must be nearing the unmanageable level now.
Tell the developer they have good taste!
Agreed, juries have a place and are necessary.
Thank you for your compliment, I think it's lovely too.

Hi,
I'm Portuguese and live in Portugal; can I participate in the contest anyway?
Thank you.
Pedro-
Thank you for writing. There is no contest.
Artists who contribute high-quality work always get my attention- I go through every picture that comes in – and when I put together shows or events or anything, I remember them. I am always on the look out for new talent. We are pushing the art form forward together – it is all based on the caliber of the work that artists from around the world are creating. That is what Apple noticed when I did the presentation at the store. It is the work that counts.
I invite you to submit your best work and welcome you to the Pixels family. -Knox
